One shawl-collared dress pattern with three different skirt modifications to change the look of the dress. Knit top-down with sock yarn, this dress works up quickly. It has an opening in the back for ease in dressing the doll.

Plus the dress can be worn with the buttons in front for another cute look. You could also knit this pattern to the waist and finish with a few rows of ribbing or garter stitch to make a cute shawl-collared sweater which could be worn with buttons in front or back.

I found that the gauge can be either 5 sts = 1” or 6 sts = 1” and the dress will still fit the doll well. I knit a couple dresses using some unlabeled leftover ounces of sock yarn that gave me different gauges and they all looked cute.

The pattern suggests a 16” circular needle but it could be knit on straight needles as well until the joining. Although I used double-pointed needles after joining the dress at the waist, it can be knit flat with the button band continuing down the back (and more buttons, of course). Or use the two-circular method instead of the double-pointed needles.

The Hearts for Hearts dolls wear the same size clothing as the American Girl WellieWishers, Les Cheries dolls, the 14” Glitter Girls and the 14” Play Zone Style Girls so this pattern will fit all those dolls but the skirt and sleeve lengths may vary just a bit so try it on your doll.
