Sweet Allium is shaped using only increases and decreases. Because it knits up quickly and takes little yarn, it is perfect for the new knitter wanting to practice these skills. It is available in newborn size, fitting a head circumference of approximately 14.5”, and makes an excellent gift for a new baby.

Quince & Co.’s Chickadee is soft and springy but provides excellent stitch definition, essential for bringing out the pattern’s subtleties. One skein of yarn will make two hats with extra yarn to spare.

I used 9-inch circular needles, then switched to double-pointed needles for the decreases at the end.
