NOTE: New pattern download on Ravelry includes the original eyelet pattern for the hood and trim as well as an option for the Little Arrowhead Lace version shown in pink.

My original inspiration for this project was a friend’s 11-year-old daughter. She is a very accomplished knitter, but sick of knitting garter stitch scarves. I came up with this idea last summer, jotted a few notes and sent her on her merry way home (900 miles away, with a non-knitting mother). When I visited at Christmas I realized my mistake, worsted weight yarn and yarn over’s are not good for 11-year-olds. I decided to try again with bulky yarn (she won’t outgrow it before it’s finished) and regular knit front & back increases. The addition of the hood was a very happy suggestion along the way. I love how it turned out. I imagine that my young muse will knit this without the hood, however, because she doesn’t like to purl. Either way will be adorable.
