SWEET VIOLET
The Sweet Violet sweater combines a floral pattern and a variegated yarn with smooth transitions which makes it interesting without being too complicated. If you prefer using solid colored yarn, you could use just one color for the entire base, or change colours throughout the chart to create your own variegation. The pattern is adapted for the yarn from the Swedish company Ullcentrum, but also works well with the Icelandic plötulopi yarn.

ULLCENTRUM
The Swedish company Ullcentrum was established in 1998. It takes care of and produces yarn from Swedish wool that would otherwise be thrown away. The yarn is made from different Swedish sheep breeds, such as Gotland sheep. The yarn is available in both natural and dyed colors. It comes in several different weights, both spun and unspun and in 1-, 2- and 3-ply. This pattern is adapted for 2-ply held double. To order yarn, check out Ullcentrum.com.

GENERAL
This sweater is knitted seamlessly in the round. Pattern and decreases are worked from chart. The round begins and ends on the left side of the body, and for the yoke on the left side of the back. When one skein ends, don’t tie the new skein on – join ends by felting them together. This will give you less ends to weave in, plus a nicer looking garment. For tips on knitting techniques, like the kitchener stitch, check out knittinghelp.com.

VARIEGATED YARN
To knit the variegated yarn double, make a centre-pull ball and take one thread from the centre and one from the outside. The color varies from skein to skein and you may get a ball that goes from dark to light or the other way around. Consult the staff of the store if you want to be sure to get the skein you want. Try to get a skein with a good balance, for example this one has a bit too much dark in the centre. You could also take some of the dark parts from the centre and either put it aside or attach it to the outside of the ball to balance it yourself.
