Sybil Ludington had only just turned 16 years old on April 26th 1777 when she rode out into a dark and stormy night to rally local militia against an advancing British force. This young girl, armed only with her voice and a stick, rode over twice as far as the lauded Paul Revere. I don’t know of any poems or songs about Sybil. Her heroic ride was not mentioned in any of my American History textbooks growing up. I offer up this scarf pattern as a small token of my appreciation for Sybil’s courage and strength during frighteningly uncertain times. May the wearer of these scarves be reminded to think with heart and move with the spirit of belief in something.
