Sylvania is a triangular shawl with a large spine ornate with leaves and cables. It’s worked top-down. The border is knitted from left to right by picking up the stitches from the last row of the shawl.

The pattern was created for sock or DK weight yarn but it can be made with any yarn. Two sizes are suggested in the pattern but you can add or remove rows to the body of the shawl if you wish to achieve a different size or if you are using smaller or bigger yarn. The pattern indicates where to add or remove rows.

The large version (beige) uses 610 yards of DK weight yarn (17 sts and 29 rows = 4”). The finished size is 72” wide at top edge and 34” high at point.

The small version (dark) uses 480 yards of sock weight yarn (23 sts and 32 rows = 4”). The finished size is 54” wide at top edge and 22.5” high at point.

The pattern includes charts and written instructions.

Difficulty: Intermediate (lace, cables, picked-up stitches)
