I made these for my dear friend Roggey .

Every facet of this sock is designed to reflect the aspects of our friendship.

I know Roggey doesn’t care for tall socks, so these are shorties. She loves blue, so the yarn I chose is a Merino/Cashmere laceweight yarn in a soft, medium blue. Not too bright, not too dark, not too pale. That perfect blue that reminds you of a summer sky. Warm and inviting.

The instep is adorned with the Symbiotic Medallion. It’s a cable medallion that has several dimensions, all meaning something.

First, up the middle is a simple 4 st plait cable, symbolizing the backbone of a friendship and lives intertwined.

Surrounding the plaits and growing from them and returning to them is a circular cable that symbolizes how friends lives sometime head in different and opposite directions, but always return to the intertwined life.

Surrounding both of those is a circle that grows from the points where the inner circle and backbone start and rejoins them both at the point where they reconnect. This is a hug that surrounds the friendship always and that at the beginning and end of the proverbial day, the friends are always together, no matter the distance they are apart.

There are 2 medallions on the instep of the sock, representing 2 friends, 2 lives.
