The stranded colourwork in this sweater is based on an old Icelandic spell for bewitching a horse to fly. The original spell was a bit gruesome, but a reworking of the spell sigil makes for a mesmerizing yoke design. Perhaps you’ll feel a bit of air under your feet while wearing this sweater.

YARN: Diamond Luxury Highlander (100% Peruvian Wool, sport weight, 50g/138m per ball); 6/7/7/8/9/10/11/12/13/14 balls in Marine Blue (col. 3308) and 1/1/2/2/2/2/2/3/3/4 ball(s) in Avocado (col. 3304).

NEEDLES: 3.25 mm 24” circular needles and a set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles in the same size (or size required to obtain gauge).

GAUGE: 24 sts x 32 rows in stockinette.

MEASUREMENTS/SIZING: 36/38/40/42/44/46/48/50/52/54” around chest (with 3-4” of positive ease, so if your bust measures 32”, make size 36).

OTHER MATERIALS REQUIRED: Waste yarn and 3 mm crochet hook for provisional cast on.

This pattern is also available in the Stave Series collection, which includes the ‘Cape of Invisibility’, ‘Helm of Awe’, ‘Felted Slipper Boots’, ‘Prosperity Messenger Bag’, and ‘Socks for Protection’.
