Tal’ngai - Flying Fox
Since I saw a picture of these rare creatures I’ve wanted to knit one!
A kind of hybrid between my fox doll and bat patterns although I have altered the pattern quite a bit to suit.
The wings are felt - tried to knit some but the felt just works so well. The fingers bones are knitted with tiny 2mm needles by working a 2cm i-cord and to be honest this is the part of the pattern that takes the longest; the body knits up oh-so speedily.
Felt-wise you’ll need one piece measuring no less than 27cm/ 11in wide x 12cm/ 5in and no more than 1mm thick, there is a template to copy within the pattern
I have added an extra bit of fur yarn which I simply wrapped around the neck and secured in place with a few discreet stitches - it’s an optional extra and the pattern still works perfectly well without (the fur yarn I used was James. C. Brett Chinchilla from my stash)
And eyes & nose - I used pair 2 x grey 12mm toy safety eyes plus 1 pink toy cat nose, both with plastic washer-type backs

P.S I’ve made a little reel on my instagram account it you want to see it @dotpebbles_knits
