The pattern can be knit with lighter weight yarn for the center. Pattern is written for handspun, but it can be knit in different yarns, fingering weight yarn should give a reasonable scarf, the worsted version is in the blanket size.

Test knitters seem to have managed to finish the shawl with the translation, so it is now available as a Ravelry download!
