A bottle cozy is what we need for an enhanced football watching experience, because we don’t want to handle cold and wet bottles or cans in cold February, right?! This tank top bottle cozy is a well-tried gift for the host of your Superbowl or tailgating party. It might also work for soccer fans, by the way. It will take you just a couple of hour to make. Also it will put a smile on your host’s face!

What do you need? Scraps of any yarn, preferably worsted weight cotton. Since there will be beer or soda spillage, you might like to use a washable yarn. You will need approximately 30-40 yards of yarn altogether. The pattern will describe how to make a classic tank top, so you will need a white or off-white color way. But there will be an option to add team colors. You will need only 5 yards of the main team color and a scarps of a second team color for some embroidery.

This pattern is suitable for beginners: It is worked flat. You need to know how to cast-on, knit, do the k1, p1 ribbing, slip stitches for a chain edge, and bind-off. Because of the chain edge, you will whipstitch the pieces together with ease. Using the Kitchener Stitch is an option. Simple colorwork is also optional for the team colors, in which case you can also choose to embroider your team’s symbol.

When you’re done, get a bottle of soda and beer and see how the cozy fits. Cheers!
