What am I missing?
Tanumshede
Tanumshede is known for its Bronze age rock carvings, with various motifs featuring longships, animals and people. These were carved into the granite rocks 1800-500BC. There are close to 1500 known rock carvings in the area, and more are being discovered.
The motifs depict a longship carrying a deer, dating back to 1200-1050 BC, and a sun horse. The beliefs of the time was that the sun was pulled across the sky by a horse.
Tanumshede is the second shawl in a set of three released as part of the World Heritage KAL by Knit & Knag Designs. The other two shawls in the series are L’Anse Aux Meadows and Jelling Rune Stones.
The patterns are available in English, French and German.
