She has 25 stitches on the left needle, and beginning working a right side row (a knit row).

Row 1: K1, turn.
She knits one stitch. She now has 24 stitches on the left needle and 1 stitch on the right needle. She turns the work so she has the needle with one stitch in her left hand, and the needle with 24 stitches in her right hand, working on the wrong side (purl row).

Row 2: P1, turn.
She purls the one stitch that is now on her lefthand needle. All 25 stitches are on the right needle. She turns her work again, so that she has all 25 stitches on the needle in her left hand and is ready to work a right side (knit row).

Row 3: K2, turn.
She knits 2 stitches. She now has 23 stitches on the left needle and 2 stitches on the right needle. She turns the work so she has the needle with 2 stitches in her left hand, and the needle with 23 stitches in her right hand, working on the wrong side (purl row).
Continue knitting and purling only the number of stitches indicated, then turning and working the other direction.
