The required amount of yarn is not given in yards or meters, it is given in weight. The pattern requires 11-15.5 ounces for the main color depending on size and 5.5 ounces of a variegated yarn.

The gauge is also not in a standard format. For the D hook, gauge is 6 sc = 1 inch; 7 rows = 1 inch. For the E hook, gauge is 11 sc = 2 inches; 6 rows = 1 inch.
