When Tammy, shepherdess at Wing and a Prayer Farm, gave me two skeins of her Shetland-alpaca blend, I knew it would need to cuddle the neck. This project combines a few of my favorite things: Shetland wool and soft alpaca—specifically when they are from dedicated and passionate fiber farm—and Shetland-style lace. Tammy pays special attention to her animals, and she works with mill owners who give the same attention to creating a collection of beautiful farm yarns. The lace pattern on this cowl goes by many names, including Old Shale and Feather and Fan, and is often found in the haps and shawls of Shetland—a fitting lace for this fiber blend.
