I wanted to make something Tardis-like, and at first thought of a hat, but the problem is that a Tardis is tall and thin, and heads…aren’t. So my thoughts turned to fingerless gloves, and I decided that whatever I made was never going to be an accurate enough portrayal of the actual Tardis to satisfy me, so instead it was going to have to be representative. Having made lots of fingerless gloves of various designs, I took some of my favourite design elements and worked out a pattern.

The structure of the gloves is simple: there’s no shaping apart from the thumb, and I’ve adjusted the motif a little to keep the colour-knitting around the thumb-shaping easy. There are times when two colours are used in the same round (obviously!) but there are never more than two. I’ve put as much detail into the pattern as possible, and given suggestions about cast-on/cast-off methods, although of course you are free to use different methods if you prefer. And the instructions provide both a written-out component and a chart, so you can choose whichever you prefer (apart from the few rows where the letters are, which really only lends itself to description by chart).

If there are any pattern errors, or confusion, or omissions, please tell me - this isn’t the first time I’ve created something, but it is the first time I’ve written it out to be used as a pattern by other knitters. I hope you like them.
