Forest Green and Teal Blue…it reminded me of the popular green and blue Scottish Plaid when working with this yarn, so I began to envision a Scottish Lassie standing in the highlands with this shawl wrapped around her shoulders. Tartanesque is a crescent shaped full-size shawl that is worked from the bottom up, starting with the lace border, and finishing with a short row body that features a wide lace panel down the middle. You wouldn’t have to add a second color into the shawl since it would be just as beautiful all in one shade, but if you do, it emphasizes the use of short rows since in outlines a crescent shape of the short rows. I used Madelinetosh Pashmina Yarn 1 skein in the shade of Forestry, and the other in Baltic. This is a beautiful DK yarn with excellent drape and color that is 360 yards per skein. You will need about a skein and a half, or somewhere between 500-600 yards of DK for this shawlette. The finished shawl is approximately 2 feet deep at its deepest middle point, and over 6 feet in length. The pattern includes a chart and written directions for the lace border, and written line by line instructions for the shawl’s body.
