The idea for this pattern came when I was invited to a surprise birthday party for a friend. I wanted to knit something special for Tavane, so I went to my stash and found some silk yarn. That is when I decided to knit a shawl. With limited time, I did not want to knit a triangular shawl or something as small as a shoulder shawl. So I decided on Tavane’s Lace Shawl which can be worn year round. Extremely versatile, the shawl is an ideal layering garment either for a day of work or play!

Tavane’s Lace Shawl is an ideal project for experimenting with different yarn weights, types, and textures! Starting at the center back neck of the shawl, Tavane’s Lace Shawl is shaped and enlarged by doubling the stitches at increasing intervals. The stitch pattern is an elongated knit stitch. So, on the right side, you always work a row of knit one, yarnover. On the wrong side you knit the knit stitches and drop the yarn overs, except when you have worked to an increase row, that is when you knit all stitches.

Shawl can be knitted with DK or Worsted Weight yarn, or anything you have in your stash! Size will vary according to yarn and needle choice.
