Stylish shaping and patterning on this vest is reminiscent of a gentleman’s tailored waistcoat. Intarsia shapes on the front echo the striping created with self-patterning yarn on the back. Applied I-cord on all the edges provides the finishing touch for this waistcoat.

Materials:
1 (2, 2, 2, 3) balls 50 g self-patterning sock yarn (MC) (approx. 50 g or 1 ¾ oz = 210 m or 229 yds)
1 (1, 1, 2, 2) balls 50 g solid 4-ply yarn (CC) (approx. 50 g or 1 ¾ oz = 210 m or 229 yds)
4 (5, 5, 5, 5) ⅜” 1 cm buttons

Any self-patterning sock yarn or even hand-painted yarn that will give you gauge will work. This vest would also be fun knit with many remnants of solid yarns from your stash.
