Designed like a large coaster, this mat sits underneath the teapot and both protects the counter and catches drips from the end of a drippy pot. The mat measures about 13” x 10.5”, big enough for most large teapots and a mug as well.

The sample used a hand-dyed gradient Paton’s wool, but any worsted or aran wool with sufficient contrast should work well. Darker colors are advised so that tea stains are less apparent. Tea can be washed out of wool by pouring boiling water over it. Just be careful not to agitate the wool during this process or it will felt!

Pattern includes instructions for both normal and extreme double-knitting for the word “Tea.”
