It’s not difficult to sew the beautiful Temair Throw together, but it does take some time.

First, you will need a large (at least 5 x 6 ft. (1.5 x 2 m) flat surface that can remain undisturbed until you finish sewing the motifs together.

You will be joining the motifs by sewing them together with a strand of yarn threaded into a blunt needle. Our Throw was sewn using a whipstitch, as is often used to sew granny squares together.

Lay one A motif onto your flat surface. This will be the center motif of the Throw.

Following the diagram, arrange 10 B Motifs around the center A Motif. With blunt needle, and working with just 2 B Motifs at a time, sew the adjoining edges of the B Motifs together. When all B Motifs have been sewn together, you will have a ‘ring’ of B Motifs.

Smooth the B Motif ring around the center A Motif. Now sew the edge of each B Motif to the center A Motif. Check to be sure the piece lays smoothly. If it doesn’t, you may need to pull out and redo some of your sewing. This is not a problem! Because crochet tension varies and even the tension of sewn stitches can vary, you will probably need to make adjustments as you continue to sew the Motifs together. Just keep checking for smoothness as you sew, and then redo any bits that need adjustment as you work. We found it helpful to wait to weave in the ends (from sewing) until all the sewing was done and we were satisfied with the way the Throw looked. This made it much easier to remove any unwanted sewing stitches.

In the same way that you arranged and then sewed a ring of B Motifs in place, arrange and sew the 10 C Motifs in place around the B Motif ring. When you’ve finished sewing, again smooth out the joined Motifs.

Following the diagram, sew the adjoining edges of 6 D Motifs into 2 groups of 3 Motifs each to make 2 triangle shapes.

Following the diagram, join a D Motif triangle to each end of Throw by sewing 2 of the D Motifs in each triangle to 2 C Motifs.

Sew 2 more D Motifs to each end of Throw, sewing adjoining edges of each D Motif to 2 C Motifs.

Finally, sew 2 A Motifs to each end of Throw, sewing adjoining edges of each A Motif to 2 D and one C Motif.
