TERRA is a hat and armwarmer set - a simple, quick and easy project that will quickly provide fun accessories for the whole family, while also being the perfect little introduction to stranded knitting.
The alternating easy dotted motif of the stranded pattern allows for a playful way for three colours to flow into each other. The hat can be worked either in subtly gradating hues or with high contrast colours, for a soft or a dramatic impact.

The stranded motif is positioned around the middle section of the hat, so that the overlapping floats allow for extra warmth at the most needed area. For a toasty warm but comfortable hat.
It is a simple and repetitive pattern, easy to memorise and suitable both for beginners in stranded knitting as also for seasoned knitters, since the quick project provides enough interest in itself.
Finally the hat’s long brim can be worn as is for a slouchy style or it can also be folded up, when more warmth is needed.

The matching arm-warmers are like unattached sleeves that one can wear with all the short or 3⁄4 sleeves that just don’t cut it when the weather gets colder. The good thing about them is that they also double as fingerless gloves if worn very low on the hands!

WHAT is l’écheveau solidaire /
The supportive Skein?
Each month, a new dyer and indie designer is collaborating to create a pattern and/or dye a specific yarn with proceeds that will go towards a charity called (MASFD). The charity’s goal is to raise money for medical research to fight Fibrous Dysplasia, which is a rare genetic disorder affecting the bones.
That way, they give you the opportunity to help the charity through knitting, a small but indispensable gesture to fight an incurable disease.
All the proceeds from the pattern will go towards the charity!

WHY this cause?
Gaia is the daughter of Lili, a french knitter who lives in Burgundy.
Gaia has a rare disease called Mc Cune Albright Syndrome and one of the numerous symptoms is Fibrous Dysplasia. She sadly has a severe form of the syndrome and had to undertake 4 surgeries already.
Lili hopes Gaia could walk one day, go to school or simply lives her childhood happily. She’s ready to do everything to help her daughter, that’s why she founded the MASFD « Fight Fibrous Dysplasia » charity « MASFD : Vaincre la Dysplasie Fibreuse » in order to help finding a cure for this disease.

’The supportive Skein’ is the first operation from MASFD.
Let’s help her fight Mc Cune Albright Syndrome !
