This richly textured hat features columns of mock cable ribs for its edge and double moss stitches for the crown. It is knit flat on two different size needles (in order to make the edge of the hat more fitted and conversely the crown of the hat more slouchy) and sewn up in the final step.

You will need about 100 yards of chunky or thick worsted or Aran weight yarn for this hat. One skein of Dream in Color Groovy in the colorway Cloud Jungle was used to make the hat in the photos (except for the last one). Malabrigo Merino Worsted or Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyes are also wonderful substitutions.

The final photo shows the hat made from worsted weight yarn in a solid color. A skein of Spud & Chloe’s Sweater yarn in the colorway Chocolate Milk was used to make that one. The result is a more open weave lacy hat.

This hat will be the perfect accompaniment to all your urban or wilderness adventures. :)
