These comfy socks are easy and quick to knit and the textured stripe gives an interesting ‘in and out’ effect which reminded me of the cake walk at the fair – which is appropriate given that they are ‘a cake walk’ to create. The heel is narrow, so is a snug fit (most of the socks I own tend to slip under or around my heel), so I wanted to create a more tailored fit with this pair. The heel stitch uses a simple but effective half linen stitch, which leads down from the main sock pattern. You can choose to knit them with a plain foot, or continue the pattern over the top of the foot if you prefer. Instructions are given for grafting to toe, making this an ideal sock for the beginner.
