I know I am reading a truly excellent piece of Fantasy when I find myself wondering about the people that do not exist in the story, the background people that make the world but never the lore. I always wonder about the people who designed and built the inspiring and lovely dwellings of the elves. Did Elrond think up the beauty of Rivendell or is there some unnamed architect somewhere, brilliant but lost to time? These socks were based on some of the features in the unknown architect’s buildings: delicate columns, sweeping elegant lines, and intricate archways. The leg pattern was especially inspired by the gazebo.

These socks are constructed from the toe-up. The toe features lattice work and ends with thin columns of ribbing. The gusset is placed in the center and the sides curve over into the heel. The entire sock uses Bavarian-style twisted stitches, which creates the high-relief appearance.

Sizing:
Most of the sock uses a 2x4 rib pattern and so it is quite stretchy, unstretched the width is 7 ½ inches although it may hang a bit loosely around the heels on anything narrower than a 8 ½ inch foot, and it can comfortably fit up to a 9 ½ inch wide foot (that’s my/the modeled foot size). If you exclude the leg chart it can fit a 10 inch foot.
