Pattern description from No Sheep for You: “Designer Wendy Wonnacott is well known on the Web for her beautiful knitted bag patterns. She pays attention to detail unlike anyone else, and now she’s turned her cotton-loving design eye to hemp. For The Bag, the zing comes from a simple mirror-image slip-stitch pattern knitted in cinnamon and pumpkin hemp. The fabric, though lightweight, has a solid feel to it, like something that will last for ages (with the right care, of course) - especially if you don’t skip the finishing touches like lining the bag. When you’ve knitted something this good looking, those last steps are not optional.”

Notions: Marker (m); a few yards (meters) of waste yarn for CO; tapestry needle; sharp-point sewing needle and matching thread; lining fabric measuring 30 x 12” (76 x 30.5 cm); fabric to cover bottom support measuring 12 x 7” (30.5 x 18 cm); fusible interfacing measuring 30 x 12” (76 x 30.5 cm); cardboard or stiff canvas for bottom support measuring 11 x 3” (28 x 7.5 cm).

Notes from No Sheep for You:

  • The handle is 7.5” (19 cm) long when relaxed but will stretch comfortably to about 12: (30.5 cm) when worn over the shoulder.

  • All stitches are slipped as if to purl with the yarn held in back of the work.
