Aunt Ninny’s no slouch, but she loves a hat that cuts you some slack. When she spotted this little number in a certain catalogue, she knew right away it would sit her pretty in the catbird seat! So she switched out the cheesy acrylic for two skeins of Paloma, Debbie Bliss’ luscious alpaca and merino chainette yarn, and knit the four stripes in three different colors of Knitting Fever Bubbles (about 13 yards per stripe). A single skein of one color would work, too, or you could substitute any bulky novelty yarn in your stash.
Super slouchy, with big retro pompoms, this hat has a sweet little twisted cable rib brim with a slit in back so it nestles down over your ears. It’s a fun, fast, and festive winter knit! Go ahead, tweet about it! Or just purrrrrrr.
