The Croft Cowl was inspired by the fabulous Croft Shetland Tweed yarn by West Yorkshire Spinners – a plump, soft aran weight yarn produced in association with Jamieson and Smith, the Shetland Wool Brokers using 100% pure Shetland wool.

A quick knit in an easy to memorise waffle stitch pattern that is fully reversible and produces a gloriously textured and squishy fabric keeping you warm and cosy on the coldest of days.

The Croft Cowl works up in no time at all and makes the perfect gift knit!

Yarn requirements

The Croft Cowl was designed with WYS Croft Shetland Tweed in mind and uses just over one and half skeins of that yarn.

If you wish to substitute yarn you will need between 250m and 320m (275yds and 350yds) of aran/ worsted weight yarn.

The Croft Cowl is knit in the round and I would recommend a longish circular needle (100cm or more) to accomodate the large number of squishy stitches plus a stitch marker big enough for your 6mm needle to mark the beginning of the round.

Many thanks to my lovely test knitters Jane and Sue for knocking out their samples in super quick time!
