Daisy, she’s summers in the park making daisy chains and swinging on the swings in the playground; she’s the smell of cut grass and the taste of a 99 flake.

Daisy was inspired by the structural panes of the Palm House in Kew Garden. Along with the pretty little flowers most see as weeds that adorn British Parks throughout the summer season. They are pretty, resilient and often trigger fond memories of being young and playing in the summer sun.

She features a square neckline, cut out back and multiple strap options.

Daisy is knitted flat; the body is knitted in one piece until you reach the shoulder straps. The straps are then slipped onto scrap yarn; whilst the three back straps are picked up from one side of the body, knitted, then bound off to the other side. Then finished by knitting the shoulder straps and sewing them to the side body.

Daisy is part of a three garment collection named the Kew Garden Collection, inspired by the beautiful botanical garden in my home town, London. All three are cropped tops but they are all very different:

  • The Daisy Crop
  • The Pamela Bandeau
  • The Rosie Halter

XS (28-30”), S (32-34”), M (36-38”), L (40-42”), XL (44-46”), 2XL (48-50”), 3XL (52-54”), 4XL (56-58”), 5XL (60-62”)

The larger sizes of this pattern are based on the feedback I have received for the smaller sizes, if you would like to make this pattern in 3XL, 4XL or 5XL and would be happy to provide me feedback on the pattern, I will provide the pattern for free to ensure all sizes are tested. Please just send me a message and I will get back to you. Also, if you are sized outside of this range, please do let me know and I will be able to help grade the size for you.

Daisy can be knit up in a multitude of fibres (my testers have tried many) from acrylic to cotton - my only recommendation is using something that has a little stability to help the crop top hold it’s shape through wear.

Customisation Tips
➢ Hold your yarn with a strand of glitter thread and make your Daisy sparkle and shine (but be sure to check gauge!) or maybe a strand of mohair if it tickles your fancy?
➢ Create striped straps by alternating a contrast colour with the main body colour every 2 rows, either the back straps only or go all out and stripe both the back and the shoulder straps.
➢ Embroider your Daisy to you hearts content (I quite like the idea of a field of daisy motifs!).
➢ Cross your shoulder straps or join them for a halter neck. Why not cross two of the back straps over?
➢ Add a ruffle to the neckline or on the shoulder straps.
