Emily Dickinson, a famous resident of Amherst, Massachusetts, wrote poems deeply inspired by her surroundings. They convey a quiet sense of serenity and wonder, with unexpected surprises sometimes lurking in the simple things. The Emily Scarf, knit out of the whisper-soft Sheffield, was originally intended to be lacy, but as it grew, it took on deep and fascinating textural aspects that really make it unique. The lace pattern isn’t especially challenging, and both written and charted directions are given for ease of knitting.
