A shapeshifter, Sauron was able to infiltrate and corrupt different races and cultures with ease long before the Fellowship was formed. Using the power of the One Ring, he created Mount Doom in Mordor, his fortress of dark magic and wickedness, with the intention of ruling all of Middle-Earth. As long as he had the Ring, he had power. Though Tolkien never goes into detail when describing him, in the books Sauron tells the Orcs to call him “Eye,” so his real name is never spoken out loud or written down. He uses the Eye as his sigil, marking all those he controls. This is taken literally in the films, manifesting Sauron as a watchful, flame-wreathed eye hovering over Mount Doom in the tower of Barad-dûr. Calling the Ring home through their shared connection, if he can capture the Ring, he can again regain physical form and power once more.

Inspired by the flame-wreathed all-seeing eye that misses nothing, this cowl will help you keep a 360-degree view on your surroundings, much like Sauron. Knit double tall in the round then folded over with the cast on and live edge stitches grafted together, stranded colorwork Eyes of Sauron keep a lookout on everything, no matter how you wear it. With blazing tones of orange on a dark background, this is a bold accessory to add to your wardrobe as you plot the future of Middle-Earth.
