Summary: Ingeniously designed shawl has double thickness around shoulders and lacier single thickness fabric around arms and back. Design has been made and worn by four generations of the author’s family.

Gauge: 1 shell repeat of (2 double crochet, chain 1) two times = 1” wide and 5/8” high.

Fiber requirements: 1 pound 75% kid mohair / 25% fine wool roving.

Yarn requirements: 14 oz. 2-ply with 5-6 twists per inch, measuring 12-13 wraps per inch and 850 yards per pound.
