The Green Girdle
This belt is part of the Gawain’s Shield shawl collection, based upon the medieval story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Although we think of a girdle as something else today, the girdle described in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight would have been worn as a belt. This pattern uses the i-cord technique and a simple cable stitch to create a narrow, textured belt.
Thank you to Stitch Definition in helping to put this collection together: JS Webb Photography and Anne Podlesak for the photos, Maureen H for tech editing, and Elizabeth Green Musselman for the layout/graphic design.
This pattern became available as an individual pattern on June 6, 2016. The book with the other patterns in the collection is also available on Ravelry (digital) and on the Gawain’s Shield website (print).
