My husband is always lamenting the fact that despite my knitting obsession, he has only one handknit sweater from me. There’s a good reason for that – I hate to knit sleeves, and let’s face it, men’s sweaters typically have very long sleeves. The solution was obvious - a vest. But, I struggled to find a design that he would wear AND that I would want to knit.

After weeks of being unable to agree on a pattern, I grabbed a notebook and started sketching. Together we found the perfect cable. The result is a vest that is easy to knit, and with the cable, has enough going on to keep you interested. The vest is knit in the round from the bottom up, and divided at the arms so that front and back are worked separately through the arm and neck shaping.

Sizes: Pattern is written for men’s small, directions for (medium, large, x-large, and 2x) sizes are in parentheses.

Finished Measurement:
Chest: 38” (42”, 46”, 50”, 54”)
Length: 25.5” (26”, 26”, 26.5”, 26.5”)

Gauge: 4.5sts = 1” on US7 needles in Stst

Materials:
4 (5, 5, 5, 6) skeins, Cascade 220 Tweed
32” circular needle, size US 5, and 32” circular needle, size 7, 16” circular needle, size US 5. (Or, size to obtain gauge.)
