The idea for this shawl came as I was contemplating Christmas. Pen and paper were in my hand, a cup of hot tea was at my desk, my calendar was out and I was trying to plan menus for the various Christmas events. As I listened to carols playing in the background I found myself musing, not on food, but on a shawl that would depict my favorite Christmas Carol – The Holly and The Ivy. And so this little shawlette was born. The edge is meant to depict ivy leaves while the inner lace is meant to depict branches of holly berries.

Christmas 2012 will be my first time to wear my new shawl and I am looking forward to pairing it with jeans and a sweater as well as a plaid skirts and lace shirts. I hope you enjoy this shawl too!
