A thick, cushy scarf for those days in September when the weather begins to turn crisp (and one that will see you through the cold depths of winter as well). Sets of double and single stripes in a slip stitch pattern make for an easy but engaging knit. Change it up by working only the double or the single stripes or the border rib, or play with colors: bright and cheery to ward of gray days, or choose two close neutrals for a piece that will go with any sweater or coat.
