On Thursday, March 14 at least 3 tornados touched down in Logan County, Ohio. One of these storms, an EF-3, flattened the villages of Lakeview, Midway, and Russells Point and did major damage to Orchard Island and the surrounding areas.

This is an area I love and spent a lot of time in growing up, and I still have family who lives there and was directly impacted by the devastation. This is a low income area entirely dependent on tourism. Just about every home was damaged, and a majority of homes were just plain blown away.

“The Lake Effect” is the act of the community coming together with what little they have, to support those with even less. Lakeview has never suffered a tragedy like this before, but has banded together to collect donations, assist the injured, and rebuild. More information on the community, its history, the storm, and the symbolism used in this pattern can be found inside the PDF, as well as in the accompanying “behind the scenes” video on youtube and on my website.
