The ‘Laura’ Shawl
My mother is the one that always inspired and supported us (my brothers sisters and me) to be creative. And though we sure have our differences, her love of handmade items and all things pretty I defenitely inherited from her. As we had a huge organic vegetable garden and some sheep in our small orchard, the love of nature and animals was something natural and made my choice to use only sustainable and fair yarns for my designs feel like a normal step.

Designing a shawl for my mother was always something I wanted to do, though knowing my mother well, it had to be both practical, feminin and stylish. Three elements I always try to keep in mind when designing.

YARN
Nurturing Fibres Super Twist Sock (fingering weight/ 100 g, 349 yd (320 m) 100 % merino)
The colour I used is Sangria, but there are many more beautiful colours to choose from.
An organic alternative used by one of my testers could be BC Garn Semilla fino, she used approx. 1071 yd (980 m) which is slightly more than stated below.
YARDAGE
approx. 1027-1049 yards (940-960 m)
GAUGE
in double crochet: 4x4 inches (10x10 cm) = 19 stitches x 10 rows
FINAL MEASUREMENTS
67 inches (170 cm) on the longest side (asymmetric model)
