I just love Advents calendars and mini skeins. But what to make with them? There are a lot of great shawl or wrap patterns, but I am not one to wear a lot of shawls or wraps. However, I do use blankets. And so does everyone else in my home.

I wanted to create a lovely blanket design. I didn’t want squares, that has been done too much already (in my opinion), and I definitely did not want to design something you had to knit first and then assemble afterwards. I know myself too well, it would never get finished then ☺!

I started to think about the shapes that I wanted to use. I started with a starting shape, and from there the whole design just flowed into being. Can you find all of the mathematical shapes in the blanket? And not just the obvious ones!

Because I know that the calendars from “Het Wolbeest” are available in 10 and 20 grams fingering mini’s and 20 grams dk mini’s, I made the design specifically for them. So in the instructions you will find 3 versions of the blanket: for 10 and 20 grams fingering mini’s and for 20 grams dk mini’s. Which ever version you choose, you will need 24 mini’s and 1 or 2 100 gram skeins to finish your blanket. This depends on the version you make. You will find more information in the pattern.

Come and join us in the group from “het Wolbeest” or in my own group to chat about the pattern and find the Q&A. Both are bilingual, Dutch and English.
