It’s the mkal that’s Most Sensational, Inspirational, Celebrational, and muppetational!

Pattern is 25% off during the presale period--now thr Feb 29th (when we leap year our way into muppets:)

How Does This Work?

  • It’s a knitting pattern for a generous shawl/wrap/scarf-thingy
  • Those purchasing the pattern during the pre-sale period (see below) will receive a planning sheet with gauge and materials info.
  • There will be 5 clues for the mkal. Clue 1 drops on March 1st (first thing in the am EDT), with clues 2-5 releasing on March 8th, March 15th, March 22nd, and March 29th. (yes, we’re “marching” into muppets. Or muppeting our way through March…)
  • As each clue is published, you will receive an update with that Clue (via Ravelry download).
  • We can chat about each clue in my Ravelry Group and/or our mkal Facebook group.
  • The yardage listed includes wiggle room. Even small differences in gauge can result in using more or less yarn than listed, and since it’s pretty awful to run out of yarn, I work to ensure that everyone can finish without having to play yarn chicken.

What Am I Getting Myself Into?

  • The pattern is written for 2 full skeins (400 yds/skein) of fingeringweight yarn in a main color (MC) and 6 mini skeins (or ~134 yds each) that have some contrast to the MC.

  • You can absolutely substitute 2 full size skeins in 2 different colors for the minis. Or you can stashbust and use scraps (just make sure you have close to 134 yds of each). Or you can sub in 2 skeins of the same color for the minis and make the whole thing a 2-color shawl.

  • If you go with a 6 mini-skein set, it can be a Fade, rainbow, gradient, or just a mix of 6 colors that make you really happy

  • There is slip-stitch colorwork, but no brioche, and the teeny bit of stranded colorwork is totally optional (and I give a cool way around it to get the same exact effect because I’m sneaky like that:)

  • The pattern is accessible for beginners and experienced knitters alike.  There will be some stitches that may be unfamiliar, but Kermit and I have teamed up to make you several video tutorials to help you along.

  • There will be Muppet Show references in the pattern, but you won’t need to get the jokes in order to work the actual shawl instructions.

For the pattern I used a set of Yummy 2-ply from Miss Babs. Kits will be available here in a few days and they’re gorgeous!  Other dyers will be offering sets as well, and I’ll add them all to the grand list below.

Gauge: 21.5 sts & 30 rows/4” (blocked) in multiple stitch patterns on size 5 (3.75 mm) needle (or size needed to achieve gauge).
Sizes: One size, in the final shape of a rectangle. The exact dimensions are a mystery, but I will give you some measurements along the way, and the size will be generous enough to wrap around Miss Piggy & Kermie together. The construction will be something along the lines of what I’ve designed before, but with a different, cool twist at the end

Materials:
2 skeins of Miss Babs Yummy 2-ply (400 yds/110 g) in a Main Color (MC), and
1 set of 6 mini-skeins (133 yds/38 g each) of Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply in various colors (“C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6”)
A size 5 (3.75 mm) 24” circular needles or size needle needed to achieve gauge in pattern
2 stitch markers, a locking stitch marker, a tapestry needle, waste yarn.
