The Nordic star is crocheted with slip stitches. It consists of 8 identical parts (beams), that are worked in turning rows and shaped with short and long rows. In the very end, one seam is worked to join the very first and the very last beam. Then, one finishing row is worked to provide a neat edge look.
You can use the stars as coasters, but they can also be a part of a beautiful garland or a wall hanging, or a Christmas tree ornament :).
