This is the Patch collection vol. 1.

These patches can be used to mend holes in used garments, they can be sewn on parts that need some reinforcement, or they can be sewn on as decoration.

The pattern includes 2 different patches meant for elbows or knees - one in garter stitch and one in slipped stitches. The patches are described in two sizes where the biggest is suitable for an elbow on an adult sweater.

There are also 5 different fun patches that all come in two sizes. These patches can be made and sewn on in a cluster to mend or reinforce or they can be used as decoration. The shapes are:

  • Heart
  • Leaf
  • Flower
  • House
  • Bear

The elbow patches use 3-6 grams of fingering weight yarn, and the smaller patches use about 1-3 grams of yarn. It’s difficult to weigh the smallest ones, but 1-2 grams on the smallest ones and 2-3 on the larger ones.

The most difficult part about these patches is the small needles. The smaller patches can also be very fiddly to work on. The smallest flower and bear are not a pure joy to knit. I considered leaving them out of the pattern, but the bigger ones needed a smaller one to complete the pairing.

I have had so much fun creating these patches and have used up a lot of leftovers from other projects that have been knitted in fingering weight merino. I am currently working on 16 different colored bears and flowers and leaves to make a picture of these patches. The bears are inspired by the teddys for Fallout 76, and this picture will be a tribute to this video game I love so much. The hearts can be used as decoration on a gift, to make a garland or some very small ornaments for a Christmas tree.

I hope this pattern will spike some creativity and result in some fun knitting time doing something else than a grown-up sized sweater.

Very important pattern information - this pattern is not written by a big business or a professional writer. It is written with my own words driven by a passion for knitting, crafting and writing. If you have any questions, please just ask. I check my messages and emails several times every week.

Thank you for reading all the way to the end.

Happy knitting!
