“The terror of the Sleepless Dead lies about the Hill of Erech and all places where that people lingered. But that way I must go, since there are none living to help me.”
-Aragorn, “The Passing of the Grey Company”

Skill Level: Intermediate-to-Advanced. There’s beading and a big of a complex cable, along with some tricky gusset instructions. Please read through the entire pattern before beginning.
Materials: 350-420 yards / 320-385m of sock yarn, and approximately 200 seed beads in a size and color appropriate to your yarn choice. The socks pictured used Anzula Haiku in the colorway “Toffee”
Needles: US1 (2.25mm) sock needles. The pattern is written for DPNs. Magic Loop knitters can adapt using stitch markers to carefully note needle placements.
Tools: Cable Needle if needed, (at least) 2 stitch markers, tape measure, scissors, tapestry needle
Sizing: Small (Medium, Large) sizes measure approximately 7.5 (9, 10) inches / 19(23,25.5) cm in circumference. Leg height, ankle depth, and foot length are all adjustable to preference and fit.
Gauge: 8 stitches and 12 rounds per inch / 2.5cm in stockinette

Please note the recommended skill level of these socks. The sock is simple enough to work until the gusset begins. The instructions for the gusset are complicated, and rely as much on a knitter’s common sense and experience as they do on the words themselves. Of course, help is available in the group discussion threads, but I recommend having a few pairs of socks finished before attempting these.
