The cottage is made using double crochet (US single crochet) for the front, back and side walls, floor and front and back roof pieces. Doors and windows are worked within the wall pieces using crochet colour block technique (I have included an excellent tutorial website for anyone new to this)
The walls and floor are joined with double crochet rows and the roof attached with double crochet rounds. I have included photos of the various stages for clarity.
The cottage is stuffed through the roof opening and closed with a row of dc.
Tension doesn’t matter too much but what is important is a tight fabric to keep the shape. I used a budget dk which gives a nice tight fabric.
This design was inspired by the lovely, quaint cottages of Suffolk a place very special to me.
