“The Rising ”
I have taken the inspiration from the traditional triangle shaped shawls of the 1700s and woven the history of the Jacobite Rising into my thought and stitches as this has been created.

It’s a shawl created using 2 skeins of yarn equating to approx. 800m of fingering/sock/4ply yarn.

It’s a simple pattern of stitches with a ruffled edge to spark a light of femininity to the piece. Traditionally this style would have been made in heavy weight yarn for the weather in Scotland, but I wanted to create a lighter piece using a finer yarn that wouldn’t have been accessible to the poorer women of the time, in doing so it gives thanks that living in the era that we do we are able to choose far more readily what we want to work with.

Its suitable for all abilities and I hope you carry my thoughts whilst creating and enjoy the finished shawl.
