The Sun pi shawl is part of my Eclipse eBook.

The Sun pi shawl was designed with growth and sunlight in mind. The leaves inside growing out of each circular ring reminiscent of tree growth.

Knitting in circles is the most comforting thing for me. Knitting pi shawls has been a favourite thing since I started knitting lace. I hope you find knitting these pi shawl projects as comforting as I have!

These photos were shot while many wildfires were burning in BC. The fires caused the air to fill with smoke in Vancouver. The photos we took were coloured by this smoke, and appear much redder than they would have normally.

This shawl is actually a light grey.

Erratta

Row 29 on the charts is mislabeled as row 79.

Yarn:

4 skeins* of Sweet Fiber Canadian in colourway “Mountain Top” or 832 yards (760 metres) of Aran weight yarn.

I would suggest picking up an extra skein of yarn for this project. Although I used 4 skeins, I had less than two meters of yarn left after I was finished the cast off.

Needles:

1 pair each of 6.5mm (US 10.5) needles in:
DPNs.
16” (40cm) circular needles.
24” (60cm) circular needles.
32” (80cm) circular needles.

Optional:
40” (100cm) circular needles.
47” (120cm) circular needles.

Or whatever size needles it takes you to get gauge.

Note: there is no particular point in the pattern in which we recommend to change needles. Do so as you see fit.

Notions:

1 stitch marker.
Tools for blocking.

Gauge:

10 stitches and 21 rows = 4” (10cm) square knit in the round in chevron lace openwork and blocked.

Size:

46” (117cm) diameter.
