Hey everyone!

The Sunlight Shawl for Sad People has been free since January 2012, many people have knit and loved this beautiful shawl, for the month of May I’ve decided to charge a bit of money for this lovely pattern. As much as I’d like to keep my patterns accessible, I’ve decided it’s time to start asking for a bit of money for my work! So if you’ve knit and loved The Sunlight Shawl consider buying it, but if you’re broke don’t worry about it! It will be free again in June!

Lots of love and thanks for all the people who have knit and loved this shawl!

~ Sylvia

The Sunlight Shawl for Sad people started as a simple no-brainer shawl made out of lovely yarn to cheer me up in the miserable Vancouver weather.

In theory this shawl could be done with any weight yarn - I’d love to see someone try it out of very large yarn (like Twinkle or Rasta.) Just follow the needle size that the yarn suggests and go for it. It can also, most definitely, can be knit in any colour yarn. A blue sky shawl or a snow storm shawl, or any kind of lovely weather shawl would be lovely.

If you have any questions or find anything confusing please feel free to contact me here on ravelry.

Special thanks to the lovely Ffrench for being my lovely model. Her blog can be found here: http://wewilltellyouallofoursecrets.blogspot.com/

I’ve updated the pattern to include a quick (poorly drawn) diagram of the construction of a triangle shawl. Just because it’s not exactly intuitive!

This pattern has been chosen to be put on the Malabrigo website as a free pattern! What an honor! Malabrigo is absolutely my go-to brand of yarn for lace, shawl and cowl projects. It’s just lovely yarn.
