The Sylvia Dering Scarf is created with a reversible knit and purl texture stitch. It is a beautiful blend of texture and colour, designed for hand dyed yarns. The scarf may be worn in a long loop. If you twist and double it at the neck, it can be worn as a tiered neck warmer. The gloves are knit mainly in stocking stitch and use the scarf texture stitch on the back of the hand only.

The yarn used is a 4 ply fingering weight. The scarf is knit at a looser than normal gauge to create fluidity in the fabric. The glove gauge is worked as: 28 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) over Pattern Stitch using #3 US (3.25 mm) needle after blocking.
