The Three Sisters shawl is part of The Chekhov Collection, three shawls by Kino Knits. These shawls showcase one, two, and three colors, respectively. All three shawls are asymmetrical triangles that are flexible; they can be knit in any yarn weight/gauge and any yardage!

In The Three Sisters, Anton Chekhov recounted the fates of three women trying to find their place in life in a small town, but their path is not straightforward (dramatic play, remember?). With this shawl, three colors of yarn find their path, though it’s not straightforward, either.

This stripey shawl is starts at one corner and gradually increases to an asymmetrical triangle. Two colors ease into relaxing garter stitch – albeit with some zigzags – while a third evolves into a mesh lace for knitting and visual interest. A jagged edge represents the sisters’ difficult lives, the chevron at the top their desire to go back to Moscow. The pattern also includes instructions for how to adapt to less or more yardage, meaning you can maximize your available yarn.
