2014 marks the 30th anniversary of the original transmission of the BBC serial based on The Tripods Trilogy by John Christopher. Inspired by the cowl originally worn in the first series by the character Will Parker (John Shackley) and named for the first book of the Trilogy, this cowl is the first pattern in The Tripods Collection.

Worked in the round in garter stitch with basic increases and decreases to create the shape, this cowl works up quickly. The use of a stretchy cast on and bind off ensures that this goes over the head with no difficulty. Tutorials for these are linked in the pattern.

The relaxed drape is created by using the large needle size. Use DPNs, or circulars or a combination thereof!
